FAQ

Not always asked, but answered nonetheless

Tiple looks awesome. Who is it for?

Tiple is for TRIRIGA developers and report writers. It makes it easy to view field names, formulas and other details without ever leaving a record.

Switching between record view and designer view slows down the development and troubleshooting process.

For example, if you are a report writer, you can use Tiple to identify the field names. Tiple also shows the database column names. If you are writing a BIRT report, this saves you countless hours.

I am not a developer, can I still use Tiple?

Yes, provided you have at least read-only access to the TRIRIGA database and can connect to the database from your local machine. You can run the Tiple standalone server.

I am a BIRT report writer, can I use Tiple?

Yes, Tiple has two features to help with BIRT report and SQL query writing. First, some TRIRIGA field names are too long for the database and TRIRIGA truncates the field name to generate the database column name. If the database column name is truncated, Tiple will show the column name in the field info tooltip. Second, Tiple can generate SQL to retrieve all fields in a section or fields from a related smart section record. This can be save you the hassle of looking up object IDs and association strings when writing complex SQL join statements.

Can I use Tiple on a Production server?

Installing Tiple server object migration package into a Production TRIRIGA server is not recommended. It may allow users to access sensitive data they may not be authorized to see. Also, bugs or memory leaks in the Tiple server may cause service interruption. You can still run a standalone server and connect it to the production database (if you have the necessary access.) The standalone server is only accessible to to the Tiple client running on your local machine.

My Organization has blocked the Chrome store or Firefox add-ons site. Can I still install Tiple?

Maybe. Administrators can also block extensions altogether, which you cannot get around. However, if they only blocked web access to the extension stores you can still sideload Tiple. For Firefox, download the signed .xpi file from the Releases page and drag and drop the file to the about:addons page.

For Chrome, you can download the .zip version from the Releases page, extract the file and load the extension as an Unpacked extension using the developer mode. See chrome extension developer guide for steps to enable developer mode. Unfortunately, Chrome will bug you about using a developer mode extension every time you start the browser.

I have an awesome idea to improve Tiple

That’s great! We would love to hear from you. Send an email to tiple-support@nithinphilips.com. Keep in mind that we are limited by the quirks of TRIRIGA and may not be able to implement all features.

This site looks cool. How did you build it?

We used Hugo to create this static site. The theme used is Kube. It’s hosted on an Nginx server. Icons are from Font Awesome
